*SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:*

The Director of Prevention Services is responsible for: directing and
coordinating the CADA Prevention Services Team in the planning, development,
and implementation of alcohol and drug abuse prevention programs for youth,
parents, professionals, and the community-at-large; managing contract
compliance and reporting; providing professional development for CADA staff
and community partners; and representing CADA in various community forums.
The Director of Prevention Services reports to the CADA Executive Director
and is a member of the agency-wide management team.



*REPOSPONSIBILITIES:*

1.      Provide leadership for CADA as a member of the agency-wide
management team;

2.      Direct and coordinate the Prevention Services Team in planning,
development, and implementation of substance abuse prevention and education
programs for youth and adults in Greater New Orleans;

3.      Provide supervision, coaching, mentoring, and support for members of
the Prevention Services Team to help them excel in their positions;

4.      Oversee the orientation of new Prevention Services staff members
concerning program and agency policies and procedures;

5.      Coordinate, guide, and oversee professional development activities
for the Prevention Services Team, and support members of the Team to become
Certified Prevention Specialists through the Louisiana State Board of
Substance Abuse Counselors;

6.      Coordinate and assign Prevention Services Team to specific project
responsibilities;

7.      Plan, develop, and oversee procedures that support complete and
accurate documentation and evaluation of Prevention Services programs;

8.      Monitor grant/contract compliance and the timely submission of
reports to various funders of Prevention Services;

9.      Work with the Executive Director to secure funding by developing and
submitting grant proposals;

10.  Represent CADA in the community, maintain active collaborative
relationships with existing program sites (schools, colleges,
community-based organizations, etc.), and recruit new sites for the
Prevention Services programs.

11.  Participate in the delivery of programs as an active member of the
Prevention Services Team.

12.  Provide professional development in substance abuse prevention to staff
from CADA’s partner organizations and schools;

13.  Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the Executive Director.



*JOB QUALIFICATIONS:*



a)      Bachelors degree required, Masters preferred;

b)      5 years of experience in substance abuse prevention or related
field;

c)      Program development, staff supervision, and contract management
experience required;

d)     Experience with youth programming, and knowledge of the Greater New
Orleans educational and human services systems and resources a plus;

e)      Excellent oral and written communication skills;

f)       Independent initiative and ability to provide leadership while
working effectively as a member of a team.
