Hi Everyone
LaKeidra has been great about keeping us informed. I understand that
this is a great program for families with kids who have emotional
difficulties. With so few local treatment resources, we have to focus
on prevention. Please share this with your families.

Hello,
I am pleased to announce an important opportunity with the Louisiana
Children's Museum. Please see the attachment for further details.
Description
The Family Involvement Enhancement Project (FIEP) is a partnership
between the Louisiana Youth Enhanced Services, Louisiana Federation of
Families for Children's Mental Health and the Louisiana Children's
Museum. The central goal of the project is to empower families with
children (ages 3-21) with behavioral or emotional disabilities. The FIEP
is a training that helps the families obtain support, communication, and
leadership skills. The parents are involved in leadership training,
while the children are doing fun, therapeutic art activities. We need
volunteers to assist the children with the art projects and engage them
in the Museum activities. The session dates are July 11th, July 18th,
July 25th, August 15th and August 22nd. Sessions begin at 8:00 and end
at noon. We are looking for steady volunteers, but if there are issues
with availability we are very flexible. No special skills are required,
but we ask that volunteers be open-minded, fun loving, and energetic.
Community service hours for high school students can be earned. Please
contact Nakina Eugene at 896-2636 or at nakina.eugene at la.gov. Don't miss
this opportunity to help inspire those who need it most.
Skills
This is a mentorship opportunity. Volunteers are asked to engage
children in the art project as well as in the Museum exhibits.
Volunteers must show commitment, energy, and creativity.
