[Sbbh] School Crisis Planning group

Good morning all,

 

During the last School-Based Behavioral Health committee meeting we
discussed the recent death(s) of student(s) in Orleans parish and
surrounding parish schools. It became clear through our discussion that
many schools choose to call any and all crisis intervention teams in the
area as a response to theses crises. This blanket of calls tends to wear
out the clinicians and resources of the most called crisis intervention
teams and is not a complete or health crisis plan. 

 

The committee decided to create a sub-committee called the School Crisis
planning workgroup to work on creating suggestions, crisis lists,
protocols, trainings, etc... to bring to the larger committee. This
group is headed by Kathleen Whalen and will be meeting for the first
time on Wednesday, November 11th at 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The
